What does voltage represent in an electrical circuit?

Voltage represents the electrical potential difference between two points in a circuit. It is the driving force that pushes electric charges (usually electrons) through a conductor, similar to the pressure in a water pipe that propels water flow. Voltage is measured in volts (V).
